Aug 03, 2009 (newstodate): In this year's Q1, Scandinavia's largest IATA export airfreight market contracted 31.8 percent in volumes, y-o-y, to 20,446 tonnes, only slightly more than the second-largest and growing Scandinavian market, Norway.
North America remained the most important market for Swedish IATA air cargo exports, with 25.3 percent of the totals, but still down 37.1 percent to 5,166 tonnes.
Second was China with 2,756 tonnes, a decline by 10 percent, followed by South East Asia that dropped 15.3 percent to 2,165 tonnes.
Fourth in the statistics was the Middle East, down 37.1 percent to 1,648 tonnes, followed by Africa that actually was the only area to grow by 5.4 percent to 1,420 tonnes.
Korea also dropped 26.6 percent to a mere 520 tonnes in Q1, 2009.
Even further down was the turnover during Q1 - a total of 180.3 mio Swedish Kroner, down 42.1 percent, y-o-y.
