Aug 24, 2009 (newstodate): Russia's Koltsovo Airport, serving Ekaterinburg, has been certified to handle Airbus A330 aircraft.
The certification is crucial for the carrier Vladivostok Avia that will start operations with Airbus A330 from Ekaterinburg to Moscow and Tianjin, China, this autumn.
The certification follows on the recent completion of works on the airport's runway, new taxi ways, apron and dedicated aircraft parking stands at Koltsovo Airport.
Vladivostok Air, the largest carrier in the Russian Far East and Siberia, has its second hub at Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport and took in its first Airbus A330-300 in June this year, and has placed orders for two more to follow.
