Aug 26, 2009 (newstodate): Russia's Federal Customs Service has drafted a bill requiring hauliers to forward electronic information on shipments carried on trucks crossing the country's border.
According to the draft, the information must be forwarded at least one hour prior to arrival at the border station, in constrast to today's situation where the provision of any preliminary information is voluntary.
The draft aims at enhancing the efficiency of the standardized customs procedures at the border crossing points, raising vigilance against illegal imports, and facilitating easier exchange of information with other natoins' customs services.
