Aug 17, 2009 (newstodate): New rules in Russia will fight against violations of anti-monopoly legislation in relation to airport services, facilitate access of air carriers to the markets of air transportation through airports in the Russian Federation, and encourage competition, according to the State Anti-monopoly Service.
On July 22, 2009, the Russian government approved the new rules for access to the services of natural monopolies in airports, slated to take effect after three months.
The new rules that refer to both passenger and cargo operations will secure all airlines fair and equal access to airport services, markets and infrastructure in Russia.
The rules follow on several cases of airports' monopolistic treatment of airline as to services including fuelling and handling at airports.
