Aug 05, 2009 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga International Airport emerged as the clear winner in the Baltic region's air passenger statistics for the first half of 2009.
During the period, Latvia's Riga International Airport saw its passenger volumes increasing by 9.7 percent, y-o-y, while Estonia's Tallinn International Airport saw its passenger volumes down by 26.8 percent, and Lithuania's Vilnius Airport's passenger volumes fell by 39.5 percent.
Thus Riga International Airport handled 1,819,847 passengers, Tallinn Airport 658,965 and Vilnius Airport 599,342 passengers.
This corresponded to 60 percent of the Baltic airports' total passenger volume handled by Riga, 21 percent at Tallinn, and 19 percent at Vilnius.
