Aug 21, 2009 (newstodate): Russia's fledgling mega-carrier Rosavia has approached Airbus, Boeing and Sukhoi for participation in a tender comprising acquisition of 50 narrow-body aircraft plus options for a further 15 units.
The State corporation Russian Technologies is behind the formation of Rosavia that builds on the remnants of members of the now-defunct alliance AiRUnion, but the project forming around Atlant-Soyuz as the core has been delayed due to the financial plights of the Russian aviation industry.
Rosavia will have about 200 aircraft from the start, but most of these are obsolete Soviet-built aircraft that will soon be phased-out.
The plans call for deliveries of the new aircraft to run from 2010 till 2016.
