Aug 17, 2009 (newstodate): Fledgling Lithuanian carrier Star 1 Airlines is seeing satisfactory performance after its first six weeks of operations.
From July 3, 2009, the carrier has introduced flights with its first Boeing 737-700 aircraft from Vilnius, Lithuania, to Dublin, London and Girona/Barcelona, and so far almost 9,000 passengers have been carried, with Dublin being so far the most popular destination.
During the period, the passenger load factor has been 80 percent, the airline says.
Star1 Airlines will receive its second Boeing 737-700 aircraft later this autumn, facilitating the opening of new routes from Vilnius and increasing flight frequencies on the route to London.
The first new destination on the carrier's route map will be Milano, with a first flight on November 21, 2009, and two weekly flights from then.
