Aug 24, 2009 (newstodate): After some consideration, Finnair has decided to reinstate its services to Mumbai, India, from this winter.
Services will resume from October 18, 2009, using Airbus A330 aircraft replacing the MD-11 used when services were suspended earlier this year, and saving some 20 percent on fuel consumption with the new aircraft.
Finnair first launched flights to Mumbai, the carrier's second Indian destination after Delhi, on June 26, 2007, initially offering up to six weekly rotations but down to four per week when services were suspended from May, 2009, due to low demand during the slack season.
Frequency will, however, be reduced to three weekly flights in the coming program, the company says.
