Aug 20, 2009 (newstodate): Uzbek Airlines is now emerging as a significant cargo carrier in the Caspian region.
During the first half of this year, the carrier handled a total of 9,100 tonnes of cargo, but this half-year volume is sure to grow after the introduction from June 3, 2009 of two Airbus A300-600 freighters on routes from Navoi to Bangkok, Delhi, and Bombay.
The airline has been allotted two Airbus A300-600F aircraft from its partner, Korean Air that will now also route its six weekly flights between Seoul and Milan as well as between Seoul and Brussels through the new Central Asian logistics center at Navoi, a JV between the two parties.
A freighter service from Navoi to Moscow is also in the planning, as are new rotations between Navoi and Dubai, Almaty from the second half of this year.
