Aug 18, 2009 (newstodate): In September 2008, TAV Macedonia DOOEL Skopje and the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Macedonia signed the 20-year contract for concession and operation of Skopje Alexander the Great Airport, Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, and the construction of the New Cargo Airport in Shtip. Since then little has happened.
As the financial crisis unfolded towards the end of the year, TAV asked for a postponement of the investments and has since applied to the EBRD for a loan to support the contract.
EBRD is expected to make a decision by October, 2009, sources say.
In the meantime the issues are still in a limbo.
