Aug 27, 2009 (newstodate): Lithuanian aircraft maintenance provider FL Technics is planning to accept the first Boeing 737 NG aircraft in Vilnius by the end of this year.
Preparations for the service expansion has included technical training of personnel by Lufthansa Technical Training and Aerotechnical Consulting & Coaching at the FL Technics training base in Vilnius, while the practical training was organized in Germany at the Lufthansa Technik aircraft maintenance base in Bremen.
About ten FL Technics customers from Russia, Ukraine, Norway, Italy and other countries now operate Boeing 737 NG aircraft, and this type is gradually replacing Boeing 737 CL.
FL Technics estimates that within the next five years the number of this aircraft type in the CIS countries alone will grow to 50, and in the EU market their number will exceed 1000 units.
FL Technics is also planning to add Airbus 320, ATR 42-300/500 and ATR 72-300/500 services to its portfolio by the end of 2010.
This will allow the Lithuanian company to service all airline companies, which are based within a radius of 1,000 km around Lithuania and operate the most common medium-range and regional aircraft.
FL Technics currently has the capability to provide line and base maintenance for Boeing 737 Classic, Boeing 757-200, SAAB 2000, and SAAB 340 aircraft.
