Aug 20, 2009 (newstodate): TNT has signed a contract with Avion Express, based at Vilnius, Lithuania, to provide operations with one SAAB 340 freighter.
The aircraft will be operated on TNT's inter-Scandinavian network comprising freight routes to and from five airports.
-The deal has been off and on for a while, and finally we found a solution to start up the long awaited service. We still have one more cargo aircraft available in the fleet, and naturally our aim is to place this unit as well, says Per Weithz, Avion Express CEO and the founder of the carrier then named AB Nordic Solutions Air Services.
Formerly named Nordic Solutions, the company was taken over by the Icelandic Avion Group when the owners of Nordic Solutions that provided in-night logistics went bankrupt in 2008.
