Aug 05, 2009 (newstodate): Lithuania's Vilnius International Airport has started preparations for introducing CAT II conditions.
The contractor of this project, Siemens, which won the public tender, will supply the existing airport's warning system with approach and landing zone lights. 250 additional lights will be installed, and the project is to be finished in six months, and the new system will be commissioned by the end of the year.
Vilnius Airport is currently certified to CAT I standards.
