Aug 05, 2009 (newstodate): Estonia may become the first Baltic market to introduce IATA's e-freight procedures.
-We will meet with representatives from Estonia's Customs Authirities and Estonian Air to assess if conditions are in place for introducing e-freight in Estonia, says Ulla Nilson, IATA CASS manager Nordic & Baltic.
-Our preliminary impression is that the Customs Authorities are indeed prepared to open up for e-freight, while there may still be some way to go before the Estonian airfreight market is convinced of the benefits from introducing e-freight and motivated for participation. Anyway, this will be cleared up through our meetings, says Ms Nilson.
According to Ms Nilson, the other Baltic market, Latvia and Lithuania are further behind concerning introduction of e-freight.
