Aug 31, 2009 (newstodate): The Croatian Construction Institute IGH has won the international tender for developing the airport at Donetsk, Ukraine.
Commune-owned Donetsk International Airport, with a newly-constructed 4,000 m runway, was constructed at the end of the 1940'ies and was last renovated in 1973.
The terminal has been designed by Croatian architects Velimir Neidhardt and Branko Kincl, and expectations are that it will handle some six mio passengers annually.
The government has dedicated USD205 mio to the construction works and new equipment of Donetsk Airport, designated as one of the country's seven airports to be modernized and upgraded to comply with world standards.
