Aug 14, 2009 (newstodate): The Volga-Dnpr Group's jumbo freighter company ABC is currently a frequent caller at Kazan International Airport, lifting shipments of live animals from Australia into the Volga Region.
Behind the operation is the Russian state agroindustrial leasing company that has contracted ABC to perform the long-haul airlift of Australian horned cattle.
The first flights with ABC's Boeing 747-400F containing 100 tonnes of live animals in special containers landed at Kazan on July 29, and four more operations are planned for August and September, 2009.
The leasing company is considering more such operations from Australia to other regions in Russia, sources say.
