Jul 01, 2009 (newstodate): The Swedish carrier Nordic Aviation, based at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, is still waiting for green lights for opening the planned flights to Iraq.
The carrier received its AOC on June 22, 2009, and plans were to launch flights for the Scandinavian tour operator Res Nu from Stockholm to Iraq already from late June, 2009.
However, the carrier has still not received final permission from Iraq, leaving it with an MD-80 aircraft on the ground.
In the meantime the carrier is offering the aircraft to operators for ad-hoc charter operations, and the first ad-hoc charter flight by Nordic Aviation was performed on June 30, 2009, between Stockholm and Beirut.
