Jul 28, 2009 (newstodate): Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport continued the downward trend in air cargo volumes during May, 2009.
In May, the airport handled a total of 3,276 tonnes of cargo, which was a decline by 21 percent, y-o-y.
During the first five months of this year, volumes at 16,271 tonnes have thus dropped 24 percent compared to last year.
The decline is especially driven by a 33 percent drop in cargo imports, but exports in 2009 are also down 16 percent.
The decline in imports is, however, steadily receding while export volumes are showing signs of relative recovery albeit still far below levels in 2008.
