Jul 03, 2009 (newstodate): In stark contrast to the situation around neighboring country Latvia's Riga International Airport, Lithuania's Vilnius Airport continued an unbroken record in 2009 of cargo volume drops through June.
In June 2009 the airport handled a total of 330 tonnes of cargo and mail, a decrease by 26.86 percent, y-o-y.
Of the totals, cargo comprised 286 tonnes, and mail 112 tonnes.
Through this year's first half, the airport thus handled 1,971 tonnes of cargo and mail, a decline by 29.98 percent, y-o-y.
During H1 Latvia's airBaltic accounted for 41.90 percent of the Lithuanian airport's total cargo, with Aviavilsa operating for DHL coming in second with 22.94 percent, and CSA ranking third with 11.87 percent.
Lufthansa Cargo was 4th with 10.92 percent of the total cargo, while Finnair was ranked 5th with 5.45 percent of the volume.
