Jul 01, 2009 (newstodate): Lithuania's fledgling new airline Star1 Airlines, headed by Martynas Laivys as CEO, is now close to launch of its first commercial operations.
The carrier's first leased Boeing 737-700 aircraft has arrived at Vilnius Airport, and Star1 is now preparing to operate four weekly flights to London starting from July 3, three weekly flights to Dublin from July 4, and two weekly flights to Girona/Barcelona from July 5, 2009.
A second Boeing 737-700 aircraft is scheduled for delivery later this summer facilitating the opening of news route from Vilnius to Paris and Milan and increasing flight frequencies on the route to London.
Air cargo is not part of the airline's short-term plans that focus on passenger transportation only.
