Jul 31, 2009 (newstodate): Regardless of the final decision, due this autumn, on whether to stay within or leave the SAS Group, the Latvian carrier airBaltic is happy with its code-share agreements with SAS and intends to continue these unchanged.
The SAS, airBaltic code-share agreements currently cover flights by airBaltic from Riga to Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm and Gothenburg as well as airBaltic's flights from Vilnius to Copenhagen.
The agreements also comprise flights from Riga and Vilnius via Copenhagen and Stockholm by SAS to Geneva, Luxembourg and Manchester, as well as to New York, Chicago and Washington.
-Some new destinations can be added during process of negotiations regarding the coming winter schedule, but this we will know by the middle of October, says an airBaltic spokesman.
By the end of 2008, the 47.2 percent of the shares formerly held by SAS in airBaltic were acquired by airBaltic's CEO, Bertolt Flick through a management buy-out.
The price was set at 220 mio Swedish Crowns, paid in cash by January 31, 2009.
