Jul 02, 2009 (newstodate): Sundt Atlanta Skybridge - the new freighter service as a JV between Sundt Air and Air Atlanta Icelandic was a surprise to market - and will remain so for some time still..
-We are now exploring the market and doing research to assess the viability of our projected business, and will continue doing this for some months. The aim is to develop a long-term sustainable business plan for a cargo operation, says Baldvin M. Hermannsson, Air Atlanta Icelandic VP Sales & Marketing.
-We are aware that many people around were surprised by the formation of this joint venture between parties that are not directly drawing on own experience with air cargo. Air Atlanta's business is ACMI, and Sundt Air's business is VIP charters.
-But we have found each other in this venture, intending to draw on our individual networks and own business experience to see where this can lead us. We at Air Atlanta had this aircraft available, so the capital risk is therefore very limited, allowing for a fresh approach to new business.
-So any options are really open at this stage. We are talking among others to our ACMI customers to see if they see any potentials for cooperation, but nothing is settled, and while we are researching together with Sundt Air the freighter now at Oslo Gardermoen Airport is available for ad-hoc charters.
-We are in talks with several GSA providers, but nothing is settled as to the future sales organization either, says Mr Herrmansson.
