Jul 27, 2009 (newstodate): The EU Commission has given its green light for Poland's government to support the development of 10 regional airports.
The support measures notified by the Polish authorities are targeting the existing small regional airports near Poznan, Rzeszow, Cracow, Lodz and Bydgoszcz, and for construction of new airports to serve Lublin, Modlin, the Podlasie region, Olsztyn-Szymany and Zegrze Pomorskie.
The small regional airports can benefit from subsidies equal to the full investment costs, while support for the medium‑sized Poznań and Cracow airports is limited to 76 percent of the costs.
