Jul 27, 2009 (newstodate): Latest figures from Aeroflot-Cargo indicate that the downward trend in cargo volumes has been stemmed during this year's Q2.
The carrier lifted a total of 31,284 tonnes of cargo during this year's Q2, 9.2 percent below last year's Q2 volumes.
More significantly, however, is the fact that the dynamics of the volumes transportation are improving month by month.
In January, 2009, volumes were 62 percent of the preceding year's, in February 59.5 and in March 71 percent.
The situation improved through Q2, with volumes at 86 percent in April, 96.9 percent in May and 92.7 percent in June, compared to last year's statistics.
Aeroflot-Cargo's freighter operations are contributing significantly to this development as the MD-11F fleet lifted 23.1 percent more freight in June 2009 compared to June 2008, totalling 4,678 tonnes.
