Jun 26, 2009 (newstodate): Lithuania's Vilnius International Airport will slim its organization to cut costs and enhance efficiency by avoiding redundancies and outsourcing non-core business.
The Airport Electric Department, Sanitary Technical Service, IT department, Electronics & automation department will be merged into one separate service.
The Aerodrome Service will be merged with the Transport Department and
will become Aerodrome Maintenance Service.
The Ground Operations Services will be merged with the Information Department and Passenger Service to form Ground Operations Service.
Finally, the airport's Emergency Rescue Service will be merged with Fire Service to constitute the Fire and Rescue Service.
As a result of this reconstruction, instead of six directors who were formerly in charge of management and control of all airport functions, four departments will be established to take over all functions of the terminal including Aviation Security, Commercial, Finance and Economics, and Infrastructure Development.
All other functions, including repairs, major constructions, building
maintenance, catering, and cleaning, will be given over to the market and tenders will be opened for the future provision of these services.
The airport's air cargo business is already operated by a private company, and no changes will therefore occur in this field.
