Jun 11 ,2009 (newstodate): The Romanian carrier Carpatair has launched flights to Chernivtsi airport in western Ukraine.
This will be the airport's first scheduled international route, and Carpatair will provide four weekly operations that connect with onward flights to other destination on Carpatair's route network.
In 2008 Chernivtsi Airport completed its runway extension from 2,216m to 2,500m, and plans are further to implement new landing systems and other infrastructure to support the airport's efforts in building up more international and transit air traffic.
Carpatair now operates a fleet comprising three Fokker 100 and 14 SAAB 2000 aircraft.
