Jun 10, 2009 (newstodate): Swedish charter carrier MCA Airlines, based at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and in the air since November 28, 2008, is planning for new routes from Gothenburg, Sweden.
Effective from June 16, MCA Airlines will launch flights from Gothenburg to Erbil, in Kurdish Iraq, followed by the start of operations from June 17 from Gothenburg to Beirut, Lebanon.
Already from June 29, the network will be further expanded with flights on a new route from Gothenburg to Sulaimaniyah, Kurdish Iraq.
The carrier currently operates one Fokker 100 and one MD-83 and plans to add one leased Airbus A320 aircraft to be allocated to the new routes.
The carrier currently operates flights from Stockholm Arlanda to eight destinations including a weekly flight to Baghdad, Iraq, from January 19, a weekly flight to Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, from March 6, and a weekly flight to Pristina, Kosovo, from May 19, 2009.
Behind the airline, managed by Gabriel Potamitis, is a Swedish investor group.
