Jun 25, 2009 (newstodate): Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi is seeing success with its new commercial aircraft, the Superjet 100.
73 firm orders for the Superjet have now been booked, including orders from launch customer Armavia, Russia's Avialeasing, Aeroflot, the Swiss Ama Asset Management Advisor, and Indonesia's Kartika Airlines.
The company will deliver its first two aircraft to Armavia by the end of this year, followed by aircraft for Aeroflot that has ordered a total of 30 planes with an option for 15 more.
13 aircraft are currently on the assembly line, and the company will deliver a total of four units in 2009, with production reaching 70 Superjets annually after 2012.
