Jun 08, 2009 (newstodate): Avia Nova will be the brand name of a fledgling new Russia low-cost carrier, formerly named A1.
The carrier is now preparing for its launch flight with an Airbus A320 aircraft leased from ILFC, and plans are to build a fleet comprising up to 10 such aircraft.
Avia Nova, registered at St Petersburg, is 51 percent owned by the Russian Alfa Group, with the remaining shares held by other private investors, including American companies.
Plans are to start operations on a domestic network from either Moscow Sheremetyevo or Vnukovo airport.
