Jun 16, 2009 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Atlant-Soyuz has signed a MoU with Ilyushin Finance for delivery of a total of 45 Russian-built aircraft.
The order that is extraordinary in the Russian context will comprise delivery of 30 AN-148 regional aircraft and 15 TU-204 aircraft.
Atlant-Soyuz will reportedly receive the first AN-148 already in 2010, and delivery of the TU-204 will commence by 2011.
The MoU is expected to be firmed up in August, 2009, sources say.
The airline, fully owned by the Moscow City government, will serve as the backbone of the new airline, Rossiya set up to absorb most of the bankrupt carriers in the former AiRUnion airline alliance, making Atlant-Soyuz Airlines a strong competitor to Aeroflot.
