Jun 24, 2009 (newstodate): The latest figures published by Russia's Transport Clearing House indicate a slight recovery in the country's airfreight volumes through April 2009.
During this year's Q1 total volumes were down 33.1 percent, y-o-y, but including April figures the decline through the first four months eased somewhat to 28.7 percent, y-o-y.
During the period January-April 2009 a total of 188,596 tonnes was carrier by Russian airlines, against 264,447 tonnes last year.
Russia's international cargo was 128,678 tonnes in the first four months, down 29.1 percent on last year, but better than the 36.6 percent drop through Q1.
Of the international cargo volumes, non-CIS cargo constituted 125,278 tonnes in Jan-Apr 2009, down 29.1 percent, but again better than the 36.7 percent drop in Q1.
