Jun 15, 2009 (newstodate): LOT has announced plans for setting up a new charter operations business, to be named LOT Charters.
Focusing on short and long-haul flights, LOT Charters is expected to have carried some 400,000 passengers by the end of 2009 and plans are to snatch a market share at 25 percent.
Most LOT Charters flights will be operated using six Boeing 737-400 aircraft, but one Boeing 767 aircraft will also be allocated to charter operations.
-Over the past 10 years the market of charter flights in Poland has been showing a steady growth rate of 9-11 percent. Despite the industry crisis we expect this trend to continue albeit at a slightly slower rate, says Andrzej Kobielski, LOT Polish Airlines Director of Charter Operations.
In March 2009, LOT dissolved its low-cost subsidiary, Centralwings that also targeted the charter market.
