Jun 30, 2009 (newstodate): Armenian carrier Armavia is preparing for setting up long-awaited direct air route to the USA.
The carrier is evaluating the acquisition of a first long-haul commercial aircraft, expected to be a Boeing 767, to be allocated to the Transatlantic service.
The US and Armenian government signed an air services agreement in 2008 that facilitates the opening of the new route, but the concrete details of the planned service are yet to be agreed upon at forthcoming meetings between the two administrations.
