Jun 17, 2009 (newstodate): Work has now started on the re-development of Ljuibljana International Airport.
First to come is the upgrade of the airport's runway in three phases of which the first phase has now been launched, slated to be completed by June 23, 2009.
The runway will be shortened and the apron will be widened, and the total project will be completed by Q2, 2010.
Also in the plans is the construction of a new passenger terminal to be opened by late 2011, offering a capacity of serving three million passengers annually.
