Jun 29, 2009 (newstodate): Georgia's Kopitnari Airport, near Kutaisi, will be re-opened for commercial traffic from today, June 29, 2009.
The airport was severely damaged by Russian aerial bombardment in August, 2008, during the military conflict between Georgia and Russia.
Prior to the conflict, Kopitnari Airport, with a 2,500 m runway, was designated to become the logistic center of West Georgia, included in the Poti-Samtredia-Kutaisi plan and Poti free industrial zone.
