Jun 09, 2009 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo continued its fall in volumes during May 2009, noting a decrease by 28 percent in total tonnage, 6,482 tonnes.
As in earlier months, the decline is first of all driven by the fall in Asian cargo, down 28.5 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 4,146 tonnes, but volumes were down also in all other segments except for the cargo on leisure flights that is, however, of no major significance.
Through January-May 2009 the carried is thus down 22.1 percent, y-o-y, with a total of 21,267 tonnes.
Due to the airline's reduction in schedules, the over-all cargo load factor improved to "only" 5.3 percentage-points down in May, compared to a drop by 10.5 percentage-points during the first five months of 2009.
