Jun 122, 2009 (newstodate): Georgia and EU are now preparing to reformulating conditions for their mutual air services.
At its latest meeting, the EU Council has granted a mandate to the Commission to open negotiations with Georgia on a comprehensive air services agreement.
The Commission requested this mandate in January 2009. The agreement aims at mutually opening the respective markets where air carriers can freely provide their services on the basis of commercial principles and to be able to compete on a fair and equal basis.
The landing of a new air services agreement will be a further step in creating a wider Common Aviation Area between the EU and its neighbors by 2010.
