May 13, 2009 (newstodate): Uzbekistan Airways is planning for major investments in the country's Navoi Airport as part of the grand scheme and JV with Korean Air to build it into a logistics hub.
In the plans for development of Navoi Airport is the construction of new aircraft parking stands for Boeing-747 aircraft, expansion of the handling capacity of the cargo terminal from currently 100 to 300 tonnes per day, implementation of a second ILS landing system, and acquisition of more new technical equipment.
Uzbekistan Airways has taken delivery of two Airbus A300-600F aircraft leased from Korean Air, and they will soon start operating on a schedule offering five weekly flights to Europe and up to 12 flights to destinations in South East Asia.
