May 18, 2009 (newstodate): Russia's Ilyushin finance Company has now secured the positioning of the first three IL-96-300T freighters originally destined for Aeroflot-Cargo.
As expected, the aircraft will enter service with Polet Airlines instead after Aeroflot-Cargo retreated from the agreement, ostensibly due to a negative evaluation of the aircraft's failure to meet its requirements.
Polet will also take the next three IL-96-300T earlier earmarked for Aeroflot-Cargo.
According to the original plans, Aeroflot Cargo should have received the first IL-96-400T aircraft in 2008 already, with two more to follow shortly after, and with the remaining three to follow suit in 2010.
Instead, Polet Airlines will receive the first three aircraft this autumn, with the next three to be delivered through 2010-2011.
