May 20, 2009 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Polet will make Munich Airport its main European gateway for cargo operations.
Polet will receive the first three IL-96-400T freighters in the latter part of this year, with the remaining three aircraft to follow thorugh 2010-2011.
All six IL-96-400T aircraft were originally destined for delivery to Aeroflot-Cargo that has, however, retreated from its earlier plan to lease the aircraft.
Polet plans to set up freighter traffic between Europe, Russia and destinations in the Far East.
