May 12, 2009 (newstodate): The move of cargo handling at Copenhagen Airport from SAS Cargo Spirit's Terminal North to its eastern facility, planned for early June 2009 has run into delays.
The cut-over date has now been set for week 26, with the delay reportedly caused by snags in the re-building process.
The decision to close down cargo handling at the hi-tech Terminal North was made to cut costs after the loss of several airline customers including Singapore Airlines Cargo from February 1, 2009.
Sources in the industry also see the move as part of the effort to sell Spirit in 2009 as a potential buyer would thus escape the high terminal lease costs of the northern terminal.
