MAY 01, 2009 (newstodate): Greek and Macedonian authorities have signed an agreement to partially normalize their mutual air traffic movements.
In 2008, Greece banned aircraft from Macedonia to fly through its airspace or land at Greek airports, and Macedonia retaliated by similar actions against Greek carriers.
The parties have now partially lifted these restrictions, allowing for aircraft from the other side to fly through their airspace, while still upholding the ban on landings on each others' airports.
In the meantime the only Macedonian carrier MAT has been ground by Macedonian aviation authorities for failing to follow instruction on maintenance of the landing gear of its single Boeing 737 aircraft.
