May 06, 2009 (newstodate): Finland's CAA has granted traffic rights for the SAS-owned Finnish airline Blue1 to provide air services between Kittila Airport and Moscow.
Kittala Airport, in Finland's Arctic region, has a 2,500m runway and a new passenger terminal, and air operations are provided by Blue1 and Finnair as well as charter carriers.
The CAA called for traffic right applications in February, 2009, and Blue1 was the only carrier to participate.
So far the carrier operates only to destinations in Finland, Scandinavia and western Europe.
