May 26, 2009 (newstodate): The process for implementation of e-freight in the Finnish market has been launched.
A first meeting was held on May 14, 2009 between representatives from IATA and Finnair Cargo that will take the lead in the process.
-We are now going through the protocol and are to set up a steering group with representatives from the various parties to be involved, including Finland's airfreight forwarders and Finnish customs, says Kristian Voss, Finnair Cargo.
-I expect a proposed project schedule to be presented for approval by the e-freight steering group by July, and then we will know the details in the process leading to implementation of e-freight in Finland.
-The current market situation is admittedly not the best for the launch of a process like this, but Finnair Cargo is still determined to link Finland to the growing number of countries already on-line with e-freight, says Mr Voss.
In the Nordic region, Denmark, Sweden and Norway is already fully integrated within the global e-freight community.
