May 19, 2009 (newstodate): Croatia Airlines is facing tough market conditions in 2009, but is still to continue its strategy of expansion and fleet modernisation.
The carrier took in two Bombardier Q400 aircraft in 2008, and will receive another two Q400 aircraft in 2009.
In 2008 Croatia Airlines launched four new routes to Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, Podgorica and Pristina, and in the plans for 2009 is the opening of new routes to Gothenburg and Barcelona.
The Croatian market for air transport became increasingly competitive in 2998, with a total of 32 international carriers and 18 low cost carriers operating regularly in the Croatian market, together with some 60 charter flight operators which serviced international routes to and from Croatia.
