May 22, 2009 (newstodate): Lithuanias Vilnius Airport saw its cargo volumes sliding in April for the third consecutive month in 2009.
The airport handled a total of 348 tonnes of cargo and mail, down 33.1 percent, y-o-y.
The total comprised 224 tonnes of cargo and 124 tonnes of mail.
Through the first four months of this year the airport handled 1,314 tonnes of cargo and mail, down 30.7 percent, y-o-y.
In addition to the general downward trend in world cargo the airport was also hit by a marked decline in aircraft operations after the demise of the national carrier flyLAl in January 2009.
