May 04, 2009 (newstodate): Boeing is preparing for the virgin flight of its long-awaited new long-haul aircraft, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The date is now set for June 30, 2009, against September 2007 as originally planned.
First delivery to ANA is still set for Q1, 2010, compared to May 2008 in the initial vision, later revised several times as problems piled up.
According to a report published by New York-based Bernstein Research, the delivery scheme may, however, be revised again, production rate adjusted downward, and the aircraft entering commercial service with higher weight and, subsequently, shorter range than defined in the specs.
The Dreamliner has so far landed 886 orders by 57 customers as of March 2009, making it the fastest-selling commercial aircraft.
