May 29, 2009 (newstodate): Cargo Care International, British Airways World Cargo GSA in Denmark since April 1, 2009, is seeing good initial results from its first months of work with its new client airline.
British Airways World Cargo is destined to play a significant role in the Danish market but was earlier downplayed after problems with the implementation of the new Ascentis terminal in London which did some damage to its image in the Danish market.
Also fluctuations in the organization of its sales work in the Danish market, last provided by its Stockholm office, did little to remedy the situation.
-We are happy to note that we have seen an immediately positive response in the Danish market after taking up the GSA responsibility, says Anders Herrgaard Jepsen, Cargo Care International Managing Director.
-For Danish forwarders, the carrier is especially strong in traffic to North America, the Caribbean, Africa, Europe and of course the UK market, but we have actually seen a fair spread of cargo to most destinations on the extensive network of BAWC.
-Thanks to our good cooperation with the carrier, we have managed to open two daily British Airways Airbus A319/A320 flights from Copenhagen to London to cargo sales, and we have succeeded also in reducing lead times on the road feeder services from Copenhagen and Billund from 48 to 24 hours, securing the competitiveness of the BAWC products against all the main competitors in the Danish market. Also Danish freight forwarders can now book shipments via GF-X, which is a further benefit.
-We have had a good feed-back from forwarders to the re-introduction of BAWC through a locally-based Danish GSA, and we are confident of the renewed progress on BAWC in Denmark, says Mr Herrgaard Jepsen.
