May 08, 2009 (newstodate): Aeroflot-Cargo's operational result from the first three months of 2009 reflects the decreasing trend of cargo industry.
During the period, Aeroflot-Cargo handled a total of 21,582 tonnes of cargo on passenger and freighter traffic - down 35.1 percent, y-o-y.
Aeroflot-Cargo's own fleet lifted 1,348 tonnes in January, down 62.1 percent, 1,776 tonnes in February, down 61.4 percent, and 3,358 tonnes in March, down 42 percent.
Combined, Aeroflot-Cargo freighters thus carried 6,482 tonnes during Q1, down 54 percent, y-o-y.
However, the direct year-on-year comparison is not absolutely correct as the airline's fleet changed from 2008, when it operated four DC-10-40F and two Boeing-737F, to 2009 when three MD-11F were operated.
Still, the results reflect the general market trends, says Aeroflot-Cargo.
