Apr 17, 2009 (newstodate): The project for modernisation of Ukraine's Kharkov Airport has now been finalised for approval by the civil aviation authorities.
The state-funded program will include the extension of the runway from 2,220 to 2,470m which will allow the handling of aircraft types including Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.
The runway extension will start by June, 2009.
Ukraine has 34 airports, eight of which are "strategic airports" including Borispol, Donets, Odessa, Lvov, Simferopol, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, and Kiev Zhulyany International airport.
